Week Twelve

Team 1 (Alyssa, Gabby H, and Josh) presented chapter 15. The projector was cutting off their presentation and pictures, which made it difficult for them and for us. They handled the unexpected situation well. We completed a crossword and a quiz, and turned both in to Crystal at the end of class for a total of 10 points. (Worth 5 points each.) I believe I got an 8/10. I only got a few wrong between the quiz and the crossword, which was better than I expected! I usually cannot remember anything so well simply by listening, especially after only one time. After the presentation was done, we reviewed chapter 9: photography and took a mini-quiz on the chapter. Heres a good online mini class about how to do photography for beginners. http://improvephotography.com/photography-basics/

Today my team presented our project on chapter 16: Classical and medieval art. The summary took a very long time, nearly half the class period, because there was so much to discuss. Our chapter covered over 1,000 years and all of Europe, mainly Greece and Rome, though. There were 7 main art periods throughout the medieval ages in Europe. In order (although they can overlap some), they are: Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Early Christian and Byzantine, early medieval, Romanesque, and Gothic. The Archaic period starts around 800 BCE, and the Gothic period ends around 1400 ACE. This chapter covers the largest art period, which spans about 1200 years. The renaissance starts about when Gothic ends. This is a good powerpoint presentation which shows the art periods on a timeline. http://www.slideshare.net/coleseth88/periods-of-art

Today, Group 3 (Grace, Jacqueline, and Kate) presented chapter 17 from the book: Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo arts. Instead of a game or activity, they handed out a worksheet with terms that we all took notes on. There were many different styles, so I believe they did a good job summarizing them all within the allotted time frame. Afterwards, we completed the quiz they made and turned it in along with the worksheet. For an assignment, Crystal told us to start designing our semester portfolio. The guidelines are posted in discussion, and we will each present our portfolio at the end of the semester. This picture doesn't have to do with the chapter presented, but i wanted to include it because its very interesting to me. It is an abstract picture made using a computer program such as photoshop. This is called Graphic design, something im very interested in ever since i took a high school class. Graphic design is involved in almost everything we see in daily lifes, such as the special effects in movies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphic_design
