Week Fourteen
November 28, 2016
Today, Ben, Nathan, and Tim completed their presentation about the Islamic Arts. We peer reviewed the museum visit worksheet, but many people forgot to bring in theirs for review (including me), so it’s now due tomorrow on Tuesday. Tomorrow, Crystal will present arts during Late 18th and 19th century with a learning activity and quiz. She reminded us to continue designing our e-portfolio. She also discusses the student Consortium on Wednesday, December 7th. She encourages us to participate and present our portfolio in it, because it looks good on applications to other colleges. If we are interested, we are supposed to email her our portfolio so she can review it.
Recently, pancake art has become a new art form that everyone loves. I wanted to learn it so i could surprise my grandpa and make him some nice pancakes like he used to every weekend. I never did learn it, but have seen how it works. You start by outlining the darkest parts of the image so that will cook the longest, making it the darkest. Then you add in the lighter shades, getting progressively lighter and cooking it less. You can see how this works in the tutorial above. Below are some artworks i really liked.
Elsa from "Frozen"
Grumpy Cat!! (My cat makes that face all the time...)
Going Clockwise from top left: Pokemon, Asuna and Kirito from "Sword Art Online", Mario, and a cat.
Thor from "Avengers"
3D star wars art

Today, Crystal presented Late 18th and 19th Century, because the group members still haven’t come to class. The late 18th and 19th Century is certainly a busy and dynamic period in Art history, ranging from Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Symbolism, to the Art Nouveau. We ran out of time to complete the in-class activities and quiz, which are 10 points. We will do it tomorrow if there’s time available. Crystal reminds us to keep working on our e-portfolio, as it’s the most important project of this semester, and to email her if we will be a part of the consortium.
These are some mixed media collages. I like the first one mainly because of the quote; Art is important for everyone. The second one i think is pleasing visually. Its simple and not overwhelmed, and you can understand the meaning. (Love of music).

Today, Jake H, Jake L, and Sean presented the early 20th Century. We completed the in class activity and quiz for 10 points. Crystal reviewed yesterday’s contents and completed the in class activity and quiz we didn’t have time for. Crystal announces there will be an Art Club meeting tomorrow (Thursday, December 1st) from 3 to 7 pm. In room 250. I would like to go, but there’s no way I could go for all 3 hours. Again, she reminds us to consider about participating in the student consortium. She also announces that if we bring in personal artworks for the Art Club to present at the Consortium, we will get 5 extra points per piece. I'm considering bringing some, but I dont have many finished art pieces. Most of my drawing are simple outlines in pencil that I drew in my sketchbook for fun. Because they were just for fun, even my finished ones arent too great.
